How to recover windows from an unplugged display

Steps

Enable Automatic workspace recovery in Settings → Workspaces.

Disconnect a display. Its windows become available on the remaining displays and join their TabStack panes.

Reconnect the display. When BetterStage can match it confidently, its windows and layout return automatically.

If a prompt appears, choose Restore Workspace to return remembered windows and layouts, or Keep Current Layout to retain the current arrangement. Offline Display Shelf is deprecated.
Try it yourself
