Window Management
BetterStage gives you multiple ways to send windows between stages — from quick keyboard shortcuts to visual drag-and-drop and bulk selection. Within a monitor, the active Window Mode decides how dragging behaves: Enhanced Native windows move freely, TabStack supports drag-to-swap, drop-on-edge insert, and moving tabs between panes.
Send with Shortcuts
The fastest way to move a window to another stage is with a shortcut. The default is a keyboard chord; the same Send action can also use a mouse button or trackpad gesture from Settings > Shortcuts. The focused window is sent to the target stage instantly.
The window disappears from the current stage and appears on the target stage. You stay on your current stage.
Send via the Snap Wheel
Open the Snap Wheel with a configured trigger — a trackpad gesture, a middle-click, or a hotkey from Settings > Snap Wheel. Open the outer ring's Send to Stage submenu, then choose a stage icon to send the focused window there.
- Open the Snap Wheel with your trigger.
- Open Send to Stage to show your stages.
- Select the target stage icon.
- The window is sent to that stage and removed from the current one.
Several Stages or Another Display
- To keep one window in several Stages instead of moving it, use Show in Stages, or hold Option while dragging it onto a Stage card.
- To carry a window to another monitor, keep pressing a directional snap toward that edge, flick the Snap Wheel the same way, or choose a display from Move to Display in the menu bar.
- To pull a window from another Stage into this one without switching, select it in the ⌘Tab Switcher and press ⌘⌥B (Pro).
