How to set the default Window Mode for new stages
Published by BetterStage · Instructions for our macOS app; detailed feature reference is linked below.
Steps
- 1
Open Settings → Window Modes → Modes & Behavior.
- 2
Set Default Window Mode for New Stages to Enhanced Native or TabStack (Pro).
- 3
Set the default TabStack layout independently of the default Window Mode. Use default layout automatically is off by default; enable it to apply the chosen preset when entering TabStack.
- 4
Create a new stage (Opt+N) to verify. This is not the per-session TabStack layout default.
Try it yourself
BetterStage is free for up to three stages. TabStack, Saved Workspaces, AI Staging, layout presets, and pinned displays are Pro. Eligible Macs can start a 7-day Pro trial; previous trials do not reset. Managed AI credits are separate.
